About this course
Humanities research is centred on cultural artefacts such as texts, images or physical objects. The digital turn makes it necessary to rethink a new way of creating, exploiting and preserving these artefacts.
The course aims at training students in the theory and practice of digital text editing and encoding using the TEI standard (Text Encoding Initiative). It provides an overview of text encoding within the Digital Humanities and explains the basic concepts of the TEI, which was created specifically for the encoding, digital exploitation, interchange, and preservation of texts.
The course focus on concepts such as digital scholarly edition, text modelling, markup languages, metadata, web standards.
It provides the knowledge and skills necessary to go through the whole editing process: Analysis, Modelling, Transcription, Encoding, Visualization and Publication.
At the end, the student will be able to model, create and visualize a digital text document, suitable for collaboration and reuse across different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

O Kursie
Badania humanistyczne koncentrują się na artefaktach kulturowych, takich jak teksty, obrazy czy obiekty fizyczne. Zwrot cyfrowy w humanistyce sprawia konieczne przemyślenie nowego sposobu tworzenia, wykorzystywania i ochrony tych artefaktów.
Kurs ma na celu przeszkolenie studentów w zakresie teorii i praktyki edycji i kodowania tekstu cyfrowego przy użyciu standardu TEI (Text Encoding Initiative). Zapewnia przegląd kodowania tekstu w ramach Humanistyki Cyfrowej i wyjaśnia podstawowe pojęcia TEI, które zostały stworzone specjalnie do kodowania, cyfrowej eksploatacji, wymiany i ochrony tekstów cyfrowych.
Kurs koncentruje się na takich pojęciach jak naukowa edycja cyfrowa, modelowanie tekstu, języki znaczników, metadane, web standardy.
Dostarcza wiedzy i umiejętności niezbędnych do przejścia przez cały proces edycji: analiza, modelowanie, transkrypcja, kodowanie, wizualizacja i publikacja.
Na koniec student będzie w stanie modelować, tworzyć i wizualizować cyfrowy dokument tekstowy, nadający się do współpracy i ponownego wykorzystania w różnych środowiskach językowych i kulturowych.
